Only minted from 1864 to 1873, the two cent piece wasn't a huge success for the mint, but is still a popular collectible as the first coin to bear the IN GOD WE TRUST motto.
This attractive coin was only minted for 38 years. Introduced to reduce the need to large cents, it originally consisted of silver but was changed to copper in later years. This later coin is, however, known as the nickel three cents.
Half dimes were one of the first denominations issued by the US mint. There were four main designs of this coin before it was replaced by the nickel we know today.
Nickels began to replace half dimes in 1866 and went through 4 different design changes before settling on the Jefferson Nickel that wa know so well today.
